"When I recieved Dragon, it came with the free analogue headset. It looked a bit flimsy but I gave it a go. I trained and trained Dragon - but it kept missing words and the audio set-up told me that the input quality was very low. So I called voicerecognition.com.au. They explained to me that my Dell laptop probably had a noisy, low quality soundcard and that I needed to bypass it - the nuance free headset can't do this.
So on their advice, I bought an Andrea NC181VM USB digital microphone. After about 20 seconds usage - with no additional training - I was getting fast accurate results that I never thought possible! It made that much difference. I'll never get back the hours i wasted using the low quality free microphone but I am saving a lot of time because I'm getting very few Dragon errors with this headset and its a soild design that will probably last years.
