Terms, Conditions and Refund Policy

Last updated: 22 May 2026  ·  Governing law: Queensland, Australia

Please read these conditions carefully before placing an order. Placing an order with Voice Recognition Australia constitutes acceptance of these terms and our Terms of Service. If you have any questions, please contact us or call 1300 255 900.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law. The Australian Consumer Law (ACL) gives you guaranteed rights when you buy goods and services — including that goods must be free of defects and do what they are meant to do. These rights, called Consumer Guarantees, have no set time limit and cannot be excluded by these terms. Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under the ACL. The conditions below set out the minimum periods within which VRA will offer a refund, replacement or repair in addition to your ACL rights.

1. Making a claim

To obtain a refund or claim warranty on goods, please contact us. You will be required to provide proof of purchase from VRA.

VRA needs to be satisfied that the product is faulty, the cause of the fault, and that the problem with the goods was not caused by you. VRA reserves the right to have returned goods assessed within a reasonable timeframe by the manufacturer to determine this — including whether the goods are defective or simply require basic troubleshooting.

Goods will be returned to you at VRA's expense unless the goods are found not to be faulty. If the goods are not faulty, you will be required to pay the return shipping and handling fee.

2. Dragon Cloud subscriptions

Dragon Medical One · Dragon Professional Anywhere

  1. Dragon Medical One and Dragon Professional Anywhere subscriptions are fixed for a period of twelve (12) months unless otherwise specified. This twelve-month term is a condition of sale and is stated on each invoice.
  2. Subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, subscriptions are non-refundable once activated. If you wish to cancel before the end of the twelve-month term, you may contact us to action the cancellation, however no refund will be issued. In some circumstances the remaining subscription period may be transferred to a new user.
  3. Unused training is non-refundable and must be completed within twelve (12) months of purchase.
  4. Multi-user licensing is subject to separate terms which will be discussed with you before purchase.

3. Speech Recognition Cloud (SRC)

speechrecognition.cloud · Professional and Medical editions

  2. Subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, SRC subscriptions are non-refundable once activated. If you wish to cancel before the end of the twelve-month term, you may contact us to action the cancellation, however no refund will be issued.
  3. The SRC free tier is provided as-is. VRA makes no warranty or guarantee in respect of the free tier beyond any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

4. Philips SpeechLive subscriptions

Philips SpeechLive subscription packages are for a period of twelve (12) months unless otherwise specified. Subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, SpeechLive subscriptions cannot be cancelled or refunded during the subscription period.

5. Perpetual computer software

Non-subscription licences

Faulty software

If goods are proven to be faulty, you are entitled to a full refund. This applies to both boxed software and digitally delivered goods. The software will be tested on VRA's systems to confirm the fault before a refund is issued. This assessment may take up to two weeks.

Refund policy for Dragon software

We comply with the Australian Consumer Law, which provides refunds for specific issues. Change-of-mind refunds are not required under the ACL. We may occasionally offer a change-of-mind refund at our discretion, provided the product has not been installed or registered. Once a product is registered, used or installed, it is considered in use and a refund is not possible as the licence cannot be recovered from the manufacturer.

For registration or activation issues with Dragon products, please contact Microsoft (formerly Nuance) directly on 1300 856 388.

Change of mind

Subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, returns, refunds and exchanges are not offered on digital products or shipped software (including downloads and USB media).

6. Hardware products

Faulty hardware

Electrical products such as microphones and headsets have a minimum one-year warranty. In some instances the manufacturer's warranty is greater than one year. Any warranty claim beyond the first year will be handled directly by the manufacturer.

Change of mind

Unused and unopened hardware in good packaging condition (and not faulty) may be returned within seven (7) days, subject to manager approval. The refund will be less the original freight charge and a 15% restocking fee.

Change-of-mind returns are only accepted for orders below $500 placed directly through this website. No restocking fee applies where a refund is required under the Australian Consumer Law.

7. Training and services

Training and services purchased from Voice Recognition Australia are valid for twelve (12) months from the date of purchase. Training and services are not refundable if they have not been used within that twelve-month period.

8. Manufacturer assistance

Many manufacturers operate support centres designed specifically to deal with issues about their products. In many circumstances the manufacturer can provide a quicker assessment and remedy than VRA. You may prefer to contact the manufacturer in the first instance.

If at any time you are not satisfied with the manufacturer's remedy, or about your legal rights, you can contact VRA for assistance.

9. General terms

Purchases through other VRA websites

Voice Recognition Australia operates additional websites which route purchases through VRA. All such purchases are contracted with Voice Recognition Australia and are governed by these terms regardless of the website through which the order was placed.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any dispute arising from these terms or from a purchase made with VRA is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.

Updates to this policy

VRA may update this policy from time to time. The version that applies to your purchase is the version in effect at the date of your order.
