HOW TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE:
The battery should be fully charged to prevent the power supply being interrupted during the update.

  1. Connect the device to the computer using the USB cable or the docking station.
  2. Download the firmware update onto your computer.
  3. Copy the new firmware file to the root directory of the device.
  4. Disconnect the device from the computer.

The firmware is automatically updated. This may take a few minutes.Wait until the firmware update is complete before calling up other device functions. Failure to properly update the firmware may result in the device malfunctioning.

NEW FEATURES:

Scroll in data-list with slide switch

In addition to the +/- buttons, scrolling in the data list is now even possible using the slide switch.
Moving the slider to the top-most position will move the cursor in the data-list one position towards the top.
Keeping the slider in this position will continuously scroll through the data-list.
Same is valid for moving the slider to the bottom-most position, with the exception that the cursor will move towards the bottom of the list.

Warning if transferred data-list is not valid

If an invalid data-list (list.csv) is copied onto the SD-card, the device will display the warning “List not valid” when the USB cable is detached. This message needs be confirmed by pressing the middle smart button marked as “OK”.
The invalid data-list will not be removed from the SD-card, so this message will reappear every time the device reboots (eg: turning the unit on). That way the user is always aware of the potential risk of using an outdated data-list.

 Selectable sort column in data-list

With previous firmware versions, sorting of the data-list was only possible with the 1st column of the list as sort criteria. From this version onwards the user can select which column should be the sort criteria.
While the data-list is displayed the user can move the cursor from the upper list-overview to the bottom list-detail-view by pressing the right smart-button (labeled as either “Sort A-Z”, “Sort Z-A” or “List”) for more than 2s. With the cursor in the list-detail-view it is possible to select the desired sort criteria with the +/- buttons and to confirm this sort criteria with the middle smart-button labeled “OK”.
After confirming with “OK” the cursor jumps back to upper list-overview. All future sorting (with the right smart-button) will be done according to the previously selected sort criteria.

Support of active external speakers
For certain configurations it may be convenient to playback the recorded job via active external speakers.
If you want to use active external speakers, change the setting “Menu->Device->External speaker” to “On”.

Immediate feedback if a write protected SD-card is inserted
Previous versions showed a warning message as soon as a recording was started with a write protected SD-card.
In addition the device will now display this warning message as soon as a write protected SD-card is inserted.

USB Mass storage protection

For full compliance with certain IT-guidelines, the DPM8000 series is now capable of securing against data theft of sensible information. Every file which is not generated by the DPM8000 itself will be deleted from the SD-card automatically (after disconnecting the device via USB from the PC or Mac) if this feature is enabled via HW-SDK or PRDM.
FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS:

Full-duplex USB-audio support for Mac OS X
It was not possible to use the device as USB-microphone or –speaker under Mac OS X.

In order to have full Mac OS X compatibility, the USB audio function has been extended to support full-duplex of recording and playback.

Mandatory barcode scanning (only DPM8500)
It was possible to start a recording even if a keyword has been defined as mandatory barcode input field and no barcode was scanned.
This could be done by accidently hitting the “OK” smart button while in the barcode-scanning screen.

From this version onward, the “OK” button is only displayed after a successful barcode scan.

PIN lock time improvement
The configurable PIN lock time (via SpeechExec, RemoteDeviceManager or HW-SDK) expired too early, resulting in more PIN code entry requests than necessary. This has been corrected with this version.

Improved sound quality
The recording parameters have been fine tuned to increase frequency response at lower frequencies producing a much richer audio playback experience on the device as well as in the SpeechExec software.
