Andrea's new SuperBeam and USBD-2A stereo full duplex desktop microphone audio system is great for voice applications including dragon speech recognition, internet telephony, VOIP, SKYPE, video conferencing and dictation / recording into computers.
How does it work?
Essentially the small SuperBeam microphone is attached to your monitor pointing towards you. It is then plugged into the supplied digital USB adapter which is in turn connected to the USB port of your computer. You can now dictate totally handsfree!
You do need to set this unit up in a quiet environment as it is less tolerant of background noise then a normal headset microphone.
This Andrea Microphone has a higher Nuance/Dragon accuracy rating than the Voice Tracker by Acoustic Magic . See Dragon Compatibility Guide then click Dragon -> then -> Array Microphone.
Once you setup up your user in Dragon NaturallySpeaking and select USB Array Microphone you can dictate directly into Dragon NaturallySpeaking by simply speaking at your monitor. You are now freed from ever wearing a headset again! With sufficient training ( it take a little longer than a headset microphone) we have found these to be nearly as accurate as a high quality headset when using Dragon. These also work great with VOIP such as Skype and Gtalk MSN etc.
